Fall Fun: Fall Break

True, I only work two days a week. But even still, who doesn't love a week off of work?! Last week was fall break and it was a jam packed week of fun! Unfortunately, Daddy had to work late more than half of our week for his big, yearly show. So we made sure to have activities planned daily to keep us entertained, as well as to soak up the fabulous fall weather before it turned gloomy and cold.

It was a fun and productive week. Fall break was so good for all of our souls.

Fall Fun: Boo at the Zoo

Each weekend in the month of October, the Louisville Zoo hosts Boo at the Zoo: A Merry, Not So Scary Night for families to go trick-or-treating. We figured this would be just perfect for you guys since we think Halloween is going to be overwhelmingly scary for you (stuffed animals, real animals, masks, you name it, they're all just terrifying to you both).

Since it's still early, your daddy is still in the construction stage of this year's Halloween costume. Lucky for us, you were still super tiny last Halloween and your costumes were way too big. Meaning...they still fit this year! So, it was one last ride for the RW Circus at the zoo last night.

I think you guys were as big of a hit (if not bigger) than some of the actual attractions at the zoo! You had such a blast riding in your circus cage, getting candy, taking in the sights and sounds, and running around.

What a blast last night was - definitely a new family tradition! And what a busy, full weekend we had celebrating fall. (You are currently still napping, going on over 2 hours now - proof of just how busy this weekend was!). Life is good, little ones.

Fall Fun: Mulberry Orchard

Yesterday was a gorgeous fall day -- cool, sunny weather. It was a perfect day to make a trip to the pumpkin patch.

We went to the same orchard we did last year - we love that it is a small, family run pumpkin patch that isn't too big or commercialized. We explored the corn maze (unsuccessfully - we never did find the exit), played, took a hayride, and picked some pumpkins.

Afterwards, Grandpa and Grandma Karen had the entire family over for chili, a bonfire, and playtime with cousins. It was a busy day full of fun, exploration, love, and giggles.

Fall Fun: Painting Pumpkins

We are officially into my favorite time of year, October -- December! Football, fall weather, hayrides, pumpkin patches, Halloween, birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. So much magic in these three months; I turn into an even bigger kid than usual.

We kicked off our fall fun yesterday by painting pumpkins. You both really enjoy crafty, artsy activities. So as soon as you got outside, you went straight to your table, picked up your paint brush, and eagerly awaited your paint!

Oh what messy fun! It sure helped that we're having unusually warm weather right now, so we could strip you down to diapers and not worry about making a mess. You both had a blast -- and your pumpkins turned out great. Looks like we have the start of a new tradition.
