Being that we're in the middle of moving houses, we haven't been able to decorate for fall, which is making it feel less like fall...not to mention the 85* weather we've been having too! Yuck!!
We decided, despite the chaos that is our life and house right now, we were going to spend this weekend celebrating fall!
Thursday night, it was off to Boo at the Zoo. Last year we went on a Sunday evening. And despite the crowds and lines, we had such a great time. This year, with our weekends pretty packed, we decided to go on a Thursday evening. Wow! Amazing difference. We practically had the place to ourselves. No waiting in lines for candy, and had you had the courage, you could've taken your picture with any and all characters without waiting in line. It was a fun kickoff to our fall and Halloween season.
Friday, after nap, the fall fun continued by painting pumpkins - another one of my favorite fall traditions we've started with you guys. (And actually, we were thankful for the warm temps today...no other way to paint pumpkins than in undies - easy clean up and no ruined clothes!)
Saturday morning, it was off to the pumpkin patch. We still love our tucked away, Mulberry Orchard. We've taken you every year now and it's still our top pick. No crowds. Smaller orchard just perfect for little ones with a playground, couple corn mazes, and plenty of pumpkins to pick from. And just in time, there was a small shift in the weather...it actually felt like fall Saturday morning! We headed out early and only had to share our hayride with two other families. Perfection!
Our weekend wrapped up casually with a relaxing afternoon at home, topped off with a bonfire and s'mores. All in all, it was a great kickoff to the fall season. But now, it's time to sleep! Whew - we are exhausted from a fun, jam-packed weekend!!
